SNAGS 2024 Results

April brought the Scottish National Age Group Championships, which was held over 5 days at Aberdeen Sports Village.

Day 1- Saw solid swimming from Matthew in 50m Fly, Anna & Aila racing 100m Fr in the first two sessions. All swimmers edged up a few places in the standings, and while Matthew and Aila were super close to their entry times Anna swam a 0.95 sec PB in 100Free.

Day 2 - Matthew swam a season’s best in 200Fly in the morning session. While, Anna swam a LC PB in this afternoon’s heats, enough to qualify in 8th place for the evening session 11-13 yr old 20 Brs final. Anna then improved her 2nd, 3rd and 4th 50’s of the race and finished in SIXTH place with a huge new Personal Best of 3:03.14!!!

Our Girls Relay Team ( Aila, Mia, Lily and Anna) swam hard in their 4 x 100Fr relay, improving their entry by over 5 seconds to take EIGHTH place overall. All four swam their socks off and performed at the top of their game - special mentions to Lily and Mia for each taking 2+ seconds off their entry time.

The Girls also broke The Club Record by a whopping 3 seconds. A record that has stood since SNAGS 2013 (and all those team members are now 23-25 years old!!)

Day 4 – Was a quieter day for Kinross Otters with only one swim in each session.

Matthew had a good swim in his 100Fly in the morning and Anna was in action in the first event of the afternoon - 200IM., her improved fly technique saw Anna finish just 0.3 off her entry, and in 17th place.

Day 5 - Charlotte swam a strong 200Fr got a huge 3 second PB - and jumped up the standings 8 places. Anna J had 3 races in the afternoon session with the first being another stonker of a 200Fr. Swimming the exact same splits that Coach Fiona had suggested, Anna took her time down to 2:26.19. In the 100Brs - a very strong event for the 11-13 girls this year, Anna qualified for a reserve place for the final.

Finally, it was time for the relay girls to step up to the blocks again. This time, for the 4 x 100 Medley. Mia led off with a strong backstroke leg, followed by yet more breaststroke for Anna! Lily then swam a corker of a 100Fly - taking just shy of 3 seconds off her entry time - before Aila took over for a strong finish in the free. The girls took 7th place on the touch, but a DQ for City of Glasgow meant they jumped up to 6th. What an achievement for a group of girls at their first ever National level competition!

A huge thank you to all of our Coaches who made this possible !!
